NRI’s Criminal Justice Diversion Programs for Justice-Involved Adults with Mental Illness Profiles report highlights key findings related to implementing criminal justice diversion programs to divert adults with mental illness from the criminal justice system to appropriate mental health and substance use services based on responses from 40 states to NRI’s Forensics Mental Health Services Component of State Profiles in the Spring of 2025. The report presents findings on pre-arrest and post-booking diversion and opportunities for mental health services during reentry from jail/prison or while on community supervision.
